High-Impact Educational Practices

Coined by George Kuh, the term ‘high-impact educational practices’, or HIPs, generally refers to a collection of practices that research has shown to benefit college students from a wide range of backgrounds. These often are intensive experiential interventions and many extend beyond the classroom. Some people use the term ‘transformational educational experiences’ but both terms typically encompass the following practices (links lead to SDSU-specific programs or additional information):
