Syllabi serve several important purposes – not only do they give students their first glimpse of course goals, requirements and policies, but they can set the tone for the entire course by conveying faculty expectations for student learning and enthusiasm for course content. What does your syllabus say about you?
In this hands-on workshop, we will discuss the components of an exemplary learner-centered syllabus, including writing effective learning outcome statements and making documents accessible for all students. We will also discuss strategies for getting students to READ the syllabus. Participants need to bring three hard copies of a current syllabus (can be for any course).
