Lunch & Learn
Wednesday, October 21
Although we may think our students are ‘digital natives’, the fact that they have grown up with technology does not necessarily mean that they know how to navigate the internet effectively or use digital tools in service to their learning. Join us to learn about some of the tools developed by faculty involved with the CTL Learning Community on Digital Communication Across the Curriculum. Library faculty, Zoe Jarocki, Jenny Wong-Welch, and Pamela Jackson, will introduce an online tutorial with three modules aimed at developing the information, digital and visual literacy skills that students need when creating digital projects, and Chris Werry from Rhetoric and Writing Studies will report on his research into students’ digital literacy practices, attitudes and skills, and how that data is being used to create digital literacy teaching resources that will be piloted in sections of RWS 100.
