We have all had students who insist they “studied for hours” yet still failed the exam, or who are baffled why study tactics that helped them excel in high school no longer seem to work. In this hands-on workshop, we will review some of the research from neuroscience and psychology about how the brain processes and retains knowledge and then explore specific strategies we can use to help our students learn more effectively. This will be particularly useful for instructors of introductory courses, though instructors at all levels are welcome. This workshop is part of a series on Teaching Fundamentals. Coffee and snacks provided.
