The Center for Teaching and Learning is pleased to invite applications for the 2017-18 STEP program for junior faculty!
STEP: Scholarly Teaching through Evidence and Practice provides new faculty with a supportive environment in which to explore, implement and reflect on evidence-based teaching practices and to develop their identities as scholarly teachers. STEP is open to all tenure-track faculty who will begin their second, third or fourth year at SDSU in Fall 2017. After a kick-off retreat in August (date and time TBD), the group will meet monthly to discuss effective pedagogy and support each other in implementing new teaching strategies (the schedule of 90 minute monthly meetings will be determined based on participants’ availability). At the end of the program, participants will prepare a teaching statement that can be used in their Personnel Data Summary, in which they document and reflect on their work with students. They will also observe each other’s classes, give a presentation to their colleagues and have their work showcased on the CTL website. To honor their commitment, STEP Fellows who complete all program requirements will receive $300 for professional development activities and materials.
See the full call for applications for all the details. Applications received by Monday, May 22, 2017 will receive full consideration. After that date, applications will be considered on a rolling basis if space permits.
