Workshop Tuesday, October 10 Noon- 1pm (Arrive earlier to eat)
Contemplative practices can be used in the classroom to: increase concentration and
attention; increase psychological well-being; increase connection, generosity, and
lovingkindness; deepen understanding of course material; and increase creativity and
insight. In this workshop, CSU San Marcos Professors Marie Thomas (Psychology) and
Ranjeeta Basu (Economics) will introduce you to and you will practice a variety of
contemplative techniques that we have successfully used in our classes such as mindfulness
meditation, deep listening, contemplative movement, and compassion and lovingkindness.
Registration is required. This event is part of a series New Frontiers in Higher Education and Creating a Climate for Learning.
* Graduate students are welcome to attend all CTL events, space permitting. If an
event fills up, GTAs will be moved to the waitlist in the order in which they registered.
