Student responses in class
Friday, Feb 26
Asking students to answer formal or informal quiz questions can be a great way to break up lectures or punctuate discussions. Handheld clickers are an easy way to gather responses to such questions but for various reasons, some faculty hesitate to adopt clicker technology. In this Conversation event, Arlette Baljon from the Department of Physics, will share her experience with Plickers, an alternative to clickers that has many of the advantages of clickers without requiring students to use their devices themselves. Then we’ll open up the floor to hear what methods other faculty have found effective for collecting student responses. Please come join the discussion and share your own ideas! Coffee and snacks provided. Registration required.
* This event is part of the “Fill in the Blank” series where faculty can ask their colleagues“How do you _____?” You pick the topic and the time/date, we provide the space and snacks for an informal discussion of teaching topics.
