Military students

SDSU serves many students who come out of the unique cultural and social background of the military community. Join us for a conversation with Todd Kennedy, Military and Veterans Program Administrator and developer of the Joan and Art Barron Veterans Center “Military Ally Awareness Program”. Military Ally is based on the “safe zone” concept and generates a network of partners which today’s military affiliated students can easily identify as understanding their situation. The program provides college campuses, community organizations, and other agencies with the tools to understand, empathize with, and proctor the success of this large and diverse student body. This presentation will be a brief introduction to material that is covered (in much greater depth) during the full Military Ally session and will provide a glimpse into the distinct characteristics of the military culture. This event is part of the series on Teaching the Whole Student.
