Research shows that students learn more and are more engaged in classes where active learning techniques are used. And yet, in a CTL survey this fall, 75% of respondents said that they “always” or “often” use lecture. If you are looking for low-cost ways to incorporate more active learning into your classroom, come join the Conversation! Conversation leaders Chris Harrison (Chemistry) and Isabelle Sacramentogrilo (Geology) will share some of the ways that they get students actively involved in their classes and then the floor will be open for everyone to discuss and ask questions. Whether you use active learning yourself or are curious how to move away from pure lecture, please come and share your experience!
CTL Conversations are open forums where participants can share ideas, ask questions, and get feedback on teaching issues. Each Conversation will begin with comments from a few invited guests but all attendees are encouraged to come with their own tips, questions and thoughts to share.
