Explore how to help students develop a ‘growth mindset’ with the CTL’s Fall Reading Circle. We will be reading Mindset: The New Psychology of Success; the description is below. The Reading Circle will meet on campus three times (once a week for three weeks). In order to find a time that works for as many people as possible, please indicate your availability in this poll, by no later than next Friday, Sept 2 (note there are a lot of options so make sure you expand the full table). Participants will receive a complimentary copy of the book and the opportunity to connect with other teaching-minded colleagues in a casual environment.
To sign up, review the description, email the CTL Director, Jennifer Imazeki, to let us know you’re interested, and then go here to indicate your availability. Spaces are limited, so don’t wait too long to reserve your spot!
From Amazon.com: “World-renowned Stanford University psychologist Carol Dweck… explains why it’s not just our abilities and talent that bring us success—but whether we approach them with a fixed or growth mindset. She makes clear why praising intelligence and ability doesn’t foster self-esteem and lead to accomplishment, but may actually jeopardize success. With the right mindset, we can motivate our kids and help them to raise their grades, as well as reach our own goals—personal and professional.”
