What does it mean to be an effective teacher? The Policy File lists several descriptive pedagogical items that can be used in the RTP process as evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as syllabi, use of new technologies or curriculum development; however, to build a strong case for truly effective teaching, these descriptions of pedagogy may require additional information and context from the instructor in order to show how they lead to actual student learning. In this hands-on Lunch & Learn, we will discuss how to develop, present and use information about student learning, not only as evidence of effective teaching for the purposes of RTP, but as a valuable tool for continuous improvement in teaching throughout your career. Although the primary audience for this event is Assistant and Associate Professors, instructors at all levels are welcome.
Participants are encouraged to bring copies of their current PDS teaching items and to stay for the after-lunch working session.
