Whether you are a new instructor or an old-timer just looking for some fresh ideas, this workshop is designed to help instructors who primarily spend classtime lecturing to provide a more intellectually engaging experience during each class period. In addition to discussing the effective use of PowerPoint and visual images, we will discuss the role of content and context in increasing the level of student engagement, and discuss classroom management techniques designed to facilitate student engagement.

Attendees will be able to…

  • Articulate the value of making lectures more interactive and engaging
  • Identify general principles for engaging students in lectures
  • Formulate a plan to implement at least one strategy to engage students more deeply
